1. Sows: Sow in May in sunny conditions, 5-6 seeds in small shallow holes 1 m x 60 cm apart.
2. Lightening: A fortnight after sowing, keep only the most vigorous plan in each hole and pull out the others.
3. Harvest: Harvest in August-September. To get watermelons from July, sow under a heated shelter from February.
